A former caregiver at a daycare center reportedly abducted a 5-year-old child from the school and sexually assaulted her with a sharp object.
The suspect pretended to be the mother of the girl by wearing a Muslim dress and veil to kidnap the girl from school.
The young girl in Pennsylvania suffered horrific injuries following the painful encounter in the hands of 22-year-old Christina Regusters of Philadelphia.
Now, Regusters will serve a 40-year long jail term after she was convicted of aggravated assault, kidnapping, involuntary deviate sexual intercourse and other offenses related to the crime.
Prosecutors revealed that the victim was found the next day in the school’s playground around 5 am.
The girl suffered serious injuries and required a colostomy bag for six months. Fortunately, she has since recovered.
The mother of the victim told Regusters, that her attempt at an apology was not enough.
“I’m asking for your forgiveness,” said Regusters. “Although you cannot take it, I apologize.”
