It’s raining, it’s pouring, and everyone is really bored! When the weather is not at its best, there is a lot more that you can do than just sit on a couch and watch TV. Unless cavorting in the mud at a festival is not your idea of fun, here are ten other things that couples can do, on those rainy days.
1. Break out the board games!
The TV has a lot to answer for and, one thing that it has done is that it’s made us all forget how to have fun without it! When the rain is pouring down outside, have a dig around the back of your cupboards and find those old board games that you never play. You’ll be amazed at how much fun you can have with something that doesn’t need electricity to work!
2. Spend a few hours in café
Get out of the rain and into a café or bar. Grab a seat by the window and wile away the hours talking and watching everyone else battle the elements outside. It can be great fun watching somebody else’s umbrella turn inside out in the wind.
3. Get out the old photo albums
Memory lane is the perfect place to be on a cold, wet and windy day. Snuggle up together and flick through some old photos and bring back the memories of sunnier days. The wedding album is always a good place to start.
4. Go swimming
Another one of cool things to do on a rainy day is to go swimming. If it’s wet outside, then why not go somewhere where it’s wet inside too. Your local swimming pools are likely to be quiet on a wet day. So make the most of it and have some fun splashing around in the water together.
5. Visit a museum
Another one of entertaining things to do on a rainy day that many people forget about is visiting your local museum. Catch up on some culture and stroll around in a museum or gallery. You’ll be warm and dry, they usually have a cafe inside, where you can get a quick snack. You might learn something new in the process too, while you are there.
6. Give your home a spring clean
It’s not a rainy day activity that everyone would have on their list, but doing the cleaning together is a lot more fun, than doing it on your own. You’ll get everything put away in its proper place, your home cleaned from top to bottom, and you’ll have plenty of time to talk to each other while you do it.
7. Do a jigsaw puzzle
Rainy days are the ideal time to do things that you don’t usually do. One way to occupy the time and stipulate the mind is to try and do a jigsaw puzzle together. Or, each do a different puzzle, and make a race out of it.
8. Have a Wii marathon
Take the challenges and see who can win an all-day Wii marathon. You can bring no end of different games indoors with a Wii and it will keep you active on a rainy day too.
9. Just have a lazy day
Things to do on a rainy day shouldn’t always be overly-complicated. Sometimes, a rainy day is just the excuse you need to do nothing. You don’t have to be doing something active to enjoy your day together. You could sit and read, watch a bit of TV and just enjoy each other’s company. Let the rain do what it likes outside and just chill.
10. Go and get wet
So it’s raining; so what! Get your hats, coats and wellington boots and go out in the rain and enjoy yourselves. Be like kids again and splash in a few puddles, a little rain never hurt anyone. When you get back home, you can share a nice hot bath together and whatever may follow on from that.
